Carp Garden Centre is a family run business that offers a fantastic selection of annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees. We are located in the beautiful village of Carp, Ontario, we are just a short 10-minute drive from Kanata.
Jonathan and Tori are a husband and wife team that took over ownership and operations of Carp Garden Centre in 2016. It had been a dream for both of them to one day own a garden centre and when the opportunity presented itself they couldn’t turn it down!
Since 2016 they have implemented many changes and upgrades to the facilities. They have installed two, soon to be three, greenhouses where they grow a full range of annuals, planters, hanging baskets, vegetables, and herbs. The garden centre also carries a wide variety of premium perennials, trees, shrubs, and conifers. In 2020 they also included the sale of tropical plants.
Jonathan Merchand gained an interest in Horticulture at the early age of 12 when he started his first job at Donaldson’s Flowers in Cedar Hill, Pakenham which specialized in growing Gladiolus. At 15, looking to expand his skill set he acquired a job at the prestigious Whitehouse Perennials in Almonte where he spent his summers working for over ten years.
It was here he learnt the ins and outs of the Horticultural Industry, regularly traveling to Southern Ontario where he had the opportunity to visit many of the larger commercial growers. During his time at Whitehouse he attended Horticultural Studies at both Algonquin College and Kemptville College.
Tori Renaud grew up in a landscaping family, her step-father studied Horticulture and owned and operated his landscaping business while she was growing up. At 18 she began working for his business, assisting with landscaping operations and working as an interior plant technician.
Always the avid vegetable gardener she would spend every spring starting hundreds of seedlings indoor and experimented with growing rare and unique varieties. She completed her Horticultural studies at Algonquin College. Tori also worked at Whitehouse Perennials and accredits much of her horticultural learning from the time she spent there.
