Come for the garlic festival, visit the garden centre!

As the season begins to wind down and we reach late summer, we vegetable gardeners are enjoying the fruits of our labours. The tomatoes are ripening, the cucumbers are ready to pickle, and most anticipated of all, the garlic is ready to harvest!

Many Carp locals know that nowhere celebrates this bountiful time better than the Carp Farmers’ Market. The annual Garlic Festival will be held at the Carp Fairground this coming weekend.

Fall bounty at the garden centre

SedumHere at the garden centre we are enjoying our own beautiful bounty and the fall perennials are coming to centre stage.

Oh the colour! The soft billowing plumes of the ornamental grasses! The vibrant flower clusters of all the sedum plants that contrast beautifully against the purple, blue, and variegated foliage varieties available.

And of course our favourite, the show stopping perennial hibiscus and its never-fails-to-amaze dinner plate sized flowers! We’ve included a cool time lapse video of one opening overnight below.

View a photo gallery below of daylilies, yellow coreopsis, echinacea, hydrangeas and sedum, just some of the plants we’re stocking now.

What a great weekend to check out the festival and enjoy the colour at the garden centre. We look forward to seeing you!
